Hello and thank you for checking out our website. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization located in Palm Bay on the east coast of central Florida. Our purpose is to provide a permanent, safe sanctuary for animals of all kinds: domestic, agricultural, and exotic. While most animal rescue groups concentrate on adoptions, we take in the animals many groups cannot handle (exotic pets and some farm animals) and some animals that have been overlooked because their medical or behavioral issues are too severe to adopt them into pet homes. Sometimes we are able to rehabilitate them to where they are "adoptable" but whether or not they ever get there, they are given the best care while with us including top quality nutrition, socialization, and species appropriate enrichment. We are run entirely by volunteers and completely funded by your tax deductible donations.
Wonder Dog's Rescue Ranch is situated on privately owned property in Palm Bay, Florida. We have experienced a LOT of changes (mostly good) over the past few years and have been working tirelessly to create a safe and comfortable environment for our permanent residents. We have constructed new buildings and put up As we continue to grow, we will be updating our website with current pictures of our sanctuary and its residents.
The sanctuary "domestics" reside at Wonder Dog's The Last Resort which is located on the same piece of property as the Ranch but set up to cater to the permanent, unadoptable dogs and cats. Most of our adoptables live in foster care with our volunteers which prepares them for life in a home environment.
Please feel free to browse our website and meet all the animals under our care. Our ability to help these souls is directly dependent on support from caring people like you. Some animals can be adopted, those that cannot can be sponsored, and we can always use volunteers. We are happy to work with other like-minded rescue organizations. Please contact us with any questions, concerns, or suggestions at: info@mywonderdogonline.com

Meet our Director and founder of Wonder Dog Rescue, Inc.
As a young suburban kid, I remember road trips with my family where my dad would inhale deeply and say "Ahh, heifer dust!" as we entered farm country. I always liked visiting the country and seeing all the animals. I wanted to live on a farm and I clearly remember the conversation where I learned that farm animals became dinner and how I declared that was not the kind of farm I was going to have when I grew up!
As a teenager, the first thing I did after receiving my driver's license was go to the local no-kill animal shelter and get a job. I worked there for many years through high school and college. That job completely shaped my future; how I looked at the animal world, and even who my friends were. I became a vegetarian and went on to work as a veterinary technician, a groomer, a canine behaviorist/trainer, and eventually an animal control officer and nationally certified animal cruelty investigator. Throughout my career in the animal field, I always volunteered with different animal welfare groups as a foster home, usually to the behaviorally challenged or medically needy. As rewarding (and challenging) as that can be, I felt I wanted to do more than just foster a few animals here and there until they found good homes. I wanted that farm I dreamed of as a kid where the animals got to just be themselves, get treated with compassion and respect, and enjoy the country life without being killed and eaten. It's taken me 40 years but I'm finally able to provide that safe place for all animals. Wonder Dog was born in the early 90s as a mascot for my dog training business and he has continued to be a super hero to the animals -- because even pets need someone to look up to, right? I'm lucky enough to have a few good people around me who love and care about animals as much as I do and who have helped make creating this rescue organization a reality. I look forward to it growing as we include more great people and make rescuing, respecting, and caring for all living beings a community effort. Thank you, Michael Healy |
